VfL Bochum vs Bayern Munich: Lineups, team news, injuries, and more!

Bayern Munich are back in Bundesliga action this Sunday as they face VfL Bochum, with Vincent Kompany aiming to guide his team to a strong comeback after a tough loss.

Team News
There are still some injuries Bayern has to contend with, as Hiroki Ito, Sacha Boey, and Josip Stanišić continue working on their recoveries, while Aleksandar Pavlović is sidelined with a broken collarbone. The positive update is that Jamal Musiala is fit to start, bringing added creativity to the squad.

Expected Lineup
Fans shouldn’t expect major changes to the lineup. Up front, Harry Kane is likely to lead the attack, supported by Serge Gnabry and Michael Olise on the wings, with Jamal Musiala playing as the central attacking midfielder. João Palhinha and Joshua Kimmich are set to control the midfield.

In defense, we’ll probably see Dayot Upamecano and Kim Min-jae as the central pair, with Alphonso Davies and Raphaël Guerreiro on the flanks. Manuel Neuer is expected to start in goal.

Here’s the projected starting XI:

Formation: 4-2-3-1

  • Goalkeeper: Manuel Neuer
  • Defenders: Raphaël Guerreiro, Dayot Upamecano, Kim Min-jae, Alphonso Davies
  • Midfield: João Palhinha, Joshua Kimmich; Jamal Musiala (AM)
  • Forwards: Serge Gnabry, Michael Olise; Harry Kane

“There are games where everything is clear as soon as the final whistle blows—you know exactly what went wrong,” Kompany reflected. “This match had a lot of moments. Not everything we did was wrong, but there were times when we lost focus and didn’t capitalize. Conceding three goals in the first half wasn’t ideal, but we were still a threat. I felt we could come back and win 4-3 or 5-4. The result of the first half wasn’t great, but the team’s belief was strong. In the second half, though, the game shifted, and we have to admit that Barcelona were the better team. It was a clear defeat.”

He added, “I don’t need to go over every detail. We had many moments, and it’s not just about shots or expected goals, but those crucial moments, like in the first half against Barcelona. Sometimes you can seize those chances if you’re already prepared.”
